“NAMM, the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), commonly called NAMM in reference to the organization’s popular NAMM trade shows, is the not-for-profit association that unifies, leads and strengthens the $17 billion global music products industry. Our association—and our trade shows—serve as a hub for people wanting to seek out the newest innovations in musical products, recording technology, sound and lighting. NAMM’s activities and programs are designed to promote music making to people of all ages.”

For those of you who didn’t know NAMM is like, THEE show for musical instruments. If it makes music, it’s there. If it’s innovative, its there. NAMM is to musical instruments, as SEMA is to automobiles. Better yet, NAMM is to musical instruments, as Adultcon is to porn.

Anyway, Rane has just introduced (publicly, as of last Thursday, January 19, 2012) three new 2-channel (Serato built-in) mixers – Sixty-One, Sixty-Two, and Sixty-Two Z (technically two- one being just cosmetically different, as a customized DJ Z-Trip version). The World Famous Beat Junkies (three of which have done sets for Assembly Line parties – Rhett, Shortkut, and J.Rocc) were kind enough to do a dope ass demo at the NAMM show. Check the video, provided by AIGProDJ.com, who’s been covering NAMM all week long.

Click here to view the embedded video.

A few comments I have:

The Sixty-Two has TWO USB 2.0 connections. Now the transition between DJ sets can be seamless, without the need of wax, for the digital DJ’s.

Melo-D killed it. That guy had a dope ass intro for The Wake Up Show back in the 90′s that I can listen to over and over.

I still think Rhettmatic is one of the cleanest drummers.

I feel bad for Icy Ice and Havik in the background who didn’t get a plaque. Awkward.

I like how Mike from Rane said the word “ever”. ”Eva”.

Assembly Line Collective:

Assembly Line Collective exhibits the millennia’s most stunning artistry during their Pacific-Coast tour in the spring of 2011. Graphic Design, Concept Art, Illustration, Toys, Photography, and Urban/Street Art are among some of this generation’s beloved genres that are quickest to accelerate in renovation and impact markets across the globe.

There is a rising interest in post-modern artwork and the emergence of new and evolutionary artists are sometimes hindered by well known names. Much of this has to do with media that often recycle featured artists to draw more readers and increase profits. There is a hope to break out of this longstanding trap by bringing local unknowns and reputable names together. The purpose of this art tour is to provide the public an opportunity to meet the artists, celebrate aesthetic skill, and purchase unique works while spreading knowledge of the shows’ imaginative talents.

You told me to play this song at your funeral if you happen to die before me. You told me this without even knowing it was gonna happen which is what trips me out the most. Now, ever since then, I’ve sat down and played it every January 4th, for the past 6 years.

I can still remember the day before it happened; you came over for a haircut, just like old times, and the very next morning I got that call, and you were gone. I guess somehow, at that time when you came over, you already knew. It was like a goodbye, without even knowing it. That thought still gets to me, to this very day.

Here’s to you, Geeve Starvey – David “Devil Doc” Sotelo. Chaaa fuuuh.

So I stumbled upon this tattooed 29 year old Vietnamese American named Levy Tran a few months ago and thought I’d keep her a secret, but since half the world knows who she is now, I guess it makes sense to share her with you guys.

She’s an aspiring embalmer, part-time student, part-time server, part-time sexy, and full-time smiling tattooed goofball. Sounds kind of too good to be true, right? Well, it’s not. 100% true. Don’t believe me? Follow her on her Twitter, Tumblr, or Facebook and I’m sure you’ll agree with me. Oh yeah, she’s also appeared in Inked Magazine.

Feed her vegetables, read her a book, make her laugh, and she’s yours for the taking.

Here’s a video she shot with John Agcaoili. Make sure to watch it all the way through. The best part is at 1:41… siiiiighhhh…

Anyway, I just found this while at work, so I can’t listen to it, because I forgot my headphones in the car, so I’m just going to assume it’s corny/funny. I apologize in advance if it’s weak.

I like the play on Pacquiao’s name, though.
