My good friend Caroline and the crew she runs with, Tha Elevatorz will be throwing an art show this coming weekend (Saturday, May 1st) titled, “Where is God?” in Historic Filipino Town for those of you who are interested.  They managed to get a grip of talented artists to create pieces to support their purpose:

“The artshow was created to inspire people to experience God thru Art. The show consists of an art gallery with music performances and there will be selected community church ministries promoting their organizations. All artists presented their interpretation of how God is present in their lives, in others lives and their life. This was open to the artist interpretation.  The artshow goal is to show the presence of GOD, which will be revealed by the eclectic mix of art mediums.”

I think this is a pretty dope way to reach out to people regarding religion.  Obviously, everyone has their own beliefs and all, but I just thought this was a good alternative to being preached to.  As for myself, I’m not the most religious person.  For the most part, I try to practice self-righteousness, good morals, and throw in various religious takes here in there, but if I were to identify with a particular religion, I would probably go with Catholicism.  Probably for the fact that if I ever go to church, its at a Catholic church.  But anyway, like I mentioned before, the whole thing about being preached to, I’m not a big fan of it.  Give me something to read, a number to call, website to visit, whatever and leave it at that.  If I’m interested, I’ll definitely check it out, but please don’t push anything on me because that shit don’t fly with me.

So with that being said, Tha Elevatorz definitely are approaching our generation in a dope way.  Reaching out with music and art to show how God has influenced their lives.  Easy as that.  Much respect to them and what they are striving to do.

If you’re in the area, please stop on by and check it out.  Like I mentioned, they have some really talented folks representing that night including Catherine Cruz, who gets MADD detailed in her work and also showed with us at our ‘The Decade’, SF show, Leejay Abucayan who gets pretty funky beat boxing on his sample/loop pedal, and Denicar Bergancia who can sing her ass off.  Straight up Lauryn Hill style.  No joke.  This girl has got some pipes.  Oh, and the homie Krissfader (Massmovement) will be providing the musical goodness, hip-hop, soul, and funk.
