If you’re a gamer like me, you should be pretty excited about this, or not. Nintendo Japan has announced the anticipated arrival of its newest portable gaming console, the Nintendo 3Ds. Yes, it’s exactly what you think, except you won’t need to wear glasses to appreciate the effects. Here are some of the unofficial features that will be part of this handheld package and a video of what the final product could look like:
- Backwards compatibility for the orginal DS games
- An accelerometer for tilt controls and motion-led games (like iPhone or iPod Touch)
- 720p Hi-res screen, which would be the highest seen from Nintendo
- Two screens as the original DS, but be able to use it as one giant screen
- 3G for over the air downloads
- Downloadable eBooks which is already seen in the DSi XL
- 2 cameras (forward/backward)
Grandpa Gameboy would be proud. Nintendo says release date is expected to be anywhere between April 2010 – March 2011…. Yea I know. But you can catch the official presentation held in June at the next E3, if youre lucky enough to get a pass.
